Childhood Obesity and Solution
With children getting bigger and fatter these
years seems to be that Childhood obesity is a problem without a solution. There
are so many seminars and conferences held with doctors and obesity experts
trying to figure out a solution to child obesity. There are countless number
of theories on childhood obesity but the simple truth is that, there is still no
solid evidence that confirmed its treatment. And the fact remains that a lot of
children are still suffering from this obesity.
Perhaps some common sense solution
for childhood obesity could help and that is what am simply going to outline
here.
Obesity in Children as it is can be solved in some common ways. Discipline is the major aspect here and it involves training your children to develop a good eating habit. Below are some few ways to do it.
1. Parent role: Parents are role models to their children and whether you like it or not, you are the ultimate role model to your child and you have to act it perfectly, they are copycats. Whatever you do in the family, your children are watching. So why not do family outings together especially with some exercise like jogging, hiking, riding bikes together as a family?
Get your
children used to exercise, it will help them reduce obesity. Being healthy is a
family affair.
2. Organize Family Dinner: Home cooked foods are the healthiest because you can control the ingredients used. Try to avoid cooking meals with high amount of fats especially from meat and butter for your children. Only use natural healthy ingredient free from artificial spices and preservatives. Avoid feeding your children with ingredients like red 20, BHT, yellow 5 and vitamin A palmitate.
These ingredients are bad for young bodies and many are actually made from petroleum (oil). This puts a big strain on a child's body overworking the liver leading to childhood obesity. Only give your children natural and non processed foods to eat. Desserts can be fruits mixed up in a bowl. Children should keep away from processed pre-made pies, cakes and candies.
3. Good Diet Planning: Planning a good diet for your children is one of the best ways to make them eat healthy meals. Prepare a good lunch box for your children to include fruits, vegetables and low fat milk. These will help them learn how to pack good lunch for themselves when they are old enough. Note that, if you don't plan a good lunch for your children, they will get into the situation where they get very hungry and end up eating whatever they can get their hands on which is usually junk foods. Preparing the food ahead of time will make them avoid these.
The best way to ensure healthy eating for your children is to buy foods on the outer isles of the supermarket only. This is where you will find fresh meats, seafood, poultry, milk, eggs, yogurt, fruits and vegetables.
If you shop in these areas you will be eating natural and fresh food free of fillers and additives that are hard on your liver and that make it difficult to lose weight. This will also make your children learn to only have a choice of consuming only healthy foods.
As a matter of fact, been a great role model to your children, training them how to exercise daily and teaching them the right meals to eat are some common and simple ways to avoid childhood obesity.
