Causes, Symptoms and Herbal remedies for Cataract
Opacification of the lens of the eye or its capsule (covering)
sufficient to interfere with the vision is called cataract. Cataract is a clouding
of the eye lens that causes blur vision. It is progressive and painless. The
cataract becomes thicker as time goes until it blinds the eye. This is one of
the major causes of eye blindness in the world today. Senile cataract is the
most common type of cataract and it affects older people of 60 years and above and most cataract infections are cured with herbal remedies.
Causes of Cataract.
Cataract may be caused due to following factors which includes malnutrition, vitamin A or B deficiency, High myopia (short-sight), diabetes, old age infection of the eye. It is also caused by free radicals that affects the eye lens. Frequency X-ray causes the formation of chemicals reactive fragments in the eye and this results to cataracts.
Signs and Symptoms.
Initially patient complains of blurring
vision in the early stages of the disease. Later when the cataract matures,
complete vision is impaired in the affected eye. If treatment is not done, the
cataract becomes hyper-mature and leads to increase in intra-ocular pressure (glaucoma).
Herbal Medicines.
The eye should be washed daily with triphala water. 1 tea
spoon full of powder should be added to a glass of water at night. It is
filtered in the morning and is ready for use. Mahia triphala ghritam is
popularly used in early stage of cataract. The doses are two tea spoonful twice
daily with a cup of milk one hour before taking food. Chandrodaya vati is
for external use. It is rubbed over a clean stone with water and the paste is
applied in the eye.
Eat spinach and take
lutein. Spinach extract contains carotenoid needed for retina and eye tissue
sometimes reversing cataracts. Do not ignore taking vitamin A, it is very
essential for a healthy vision. Take Ginkgo biloba, it increases the delivery
of oxygen and nutrients to the eye and it clears toxins. Eat lots of green
vegetables especially spinach, kale and berries, blueberries, blackberries,
cherries and fruits rich in Vitamin C and E.
Avoid dairy products and saturated
fats, they produce free radicals that increases cataract infections. These
products will damage your eye lens. If you have cataract, avoid using
anthihistamines they are not good products.
