Benue born footballer Fanendo Adi name in Siasia's super eagle squad

Nigerian Super Eagle's coach Samson Siasia has invited 42 players in preparation for next months African Cup of Nation qualifiers against Egypt. One among the players invited to the Eagle's squad is Benue born star and Portland Timbers’ forward Fanendo Adi who ply his trade in the United State of America.

The 42 man list was released on Thursday afternoon by the Nigerian Football Federation has 22 local based and 20 foreign based professional players.

Players who will be making their first appearance for Super Eagles includes Fanendo Adi, Emmanuel Daniel, Sincere Seth, Segun Oduduwa, Chris Madaki, Stanley Amuzie and Aminu Umar. Also recalled are former Nigeria U23 defender Chibuzor Okonkwo, Daniel Akpeyi and Aaron Moses.

Other players invited to the squad are captain Ahmed Musa, Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Odion Ighalo, Godfrey Oboabona, Elderson Echiejile, Moses Simon, Carl Ikeme and Efe Ambrose. Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Prince Aggreh, Chisom Chikatara, Austin Oboroakpo, and Femi Thomas top the list of 22 players from the Nigeria Professional Football League.

However, returnee Obafemi Martins, Chima Akas, Leon Balogun, Rabiu Ibrahim, William Troost Ekong was excluded from the squad that would face the Hector Cuper’s Pharaohs this month in Kaduna.

The first leg encounter will hold in Kaduna on March 25, while the return leg is scheduled for Alexandria on March 29. Egypt currently top Group G with six points while Nigeria are second with four points from the same number of matches played.
