Senior Boko Haram commander and 55 others killed in battle with MNJTF

A gun battle between the Multi National Joint Task Force and the Boko Haram fighters in Abadam LGA in Borno state saw a senior boko haram military commander and 55 other terrorist killed. According to an eye witness, the gun battle lasted for hours, while the terrorist military commander was gun down alongside his fellow fighters, some of them were arrested while others fled with gun wounds.


Speaking with correspondents, the leader of the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) at Malumfatori area of Abadam LGA, Bornu state promise to track all the fleeing members of the terrorist group.
Reports given by local residents said the insurgents have been battling with MNTJF forces since last week for the control of the area.

Boko Haram has suffered a series of stinging defeats this week One of the Nigerian military officers involved in the battle, who spoke anonymously as serving soldiers are not supposed to speak to the press, said two MNTJF soldiers were killed while two others sustained injuries. It is not known how many Boko Haram fighters were injured in the battle.

This latest success against Boko Haram terror comes after 76 starving fighters and their followers surrendered to Nigerian army troops yesterday in Gwozo, Borno state. The terrorists said they had surrendered because they were starving, and reported that hundreds more Boko Haram fighters and their dependents want to do the same.
