Benue State Government promised timely completion of road projects
Benue State Ministry of Works , Transport and Energy has pledged to ensure regular supervision of ongoing road projects to ensure that they were executed on time and in accordance with specification.
Commissioner in the Ministry, Mr Emmanuel Manger, made the disclosure while inspecting Daudu-Gbajimba-Origbo as well as Mobile Police Barracks-Apir Junction roads. He was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Matthew Uyina.
The Commissioner stated that the Ministry was passionate about the projects as the people looked up to it for the delivery of democracy dividends while expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done.
At the Daudu-Gbajimba road, Engr. Mathias Ojomah, Site Engineer, disclosed that 50 percent of lateriting and about 40 percent of surface dressing had been completed. He expressed hope that the project would be completed next year with the current cooperation of communities through which the road passes.
At the Gbajimba-Imande Akpu-Origbo road, several kilometers had been cleared even as site surveyor, Mr Yu Jixiang of Tongyi International, was seen supervising a bulldozer on site.
Site supervisor of Mobile Police Barracks-Adeke-Apir Junction road, Mr Marwan Abou Assi stated that six kilometers of the road had been cleared while lateraling was going on.
He said members of the communities through which the road passes have been cooperating fully as they were happy with the project. Beneficiaries of the projects including Godwin Orjime, Philip Geshi, and Mrs Ogechukwu Nwankwo in Gbajimba commended Governor Ortom for embarking on the road projects saying when completed they would ease transportation challenges in the area.
Acting second – class traditional ruler of Guma, Chief Joseph Gborigo Cheku, expressed excitement that Governor Ortom, who is an indigene of Guma, was doing well and that he remembered his people in his first year in office and urged him to keep up the tempo.
A community leader at Adeke, Mr Kpande Gilago, said the community was impressed with the pace and quality of work. He stated that since the creation of the state it was Governor Samuel Ortom that has brought government close to the people through the construction of the road.
