Lifetime debuted its new movie Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le on October 15.
The movie, according to Lifetime’s website, offers Michel’le’s take on the darker side of Compton hip-hop in her own voice as she recounts her life as Dr Dre wife.
It showcases her romance with the rapper and the abuse that she claims she went through during her relationship with Dr Dre. However, what is strange is the card at the end of the movie that reads “Dr. Dre, through his attorney, denies abusing Michel’le and challenges her credibility.” This begs the question, “Did Dr Dre abuse Michel’le Toussaint?”
Dr Dre and his lawyer have been consistent in denying the abuse allegations and even sent a cease and desist letter to Sony over its portrayal of the rapper in the movie. However, Toussaint stands her ground as she says that the movie is as accurate as she can remember.

Dr Dre wife Toussaint recently gave an interview to Broadly wherein she explained her motivations to make the movie as well as the abuse she suffered when she was in a relationship with Dr Dre. According to her, the biggest factor for giving a nod to Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le was the fact that the earlier movie, Straight Outta Compton completely left her out.
As a result, people wondered what happened to her character. She also said that the movie was Dr Dre’s story. “It was his version of his life back then. I was surprised [by the movie’s plot] because I didn’t know we had such a fairy-tale life! When people tell me stories about the movie, I’m in shock,” she shared.
