Police nab another notorious Boko Haram commander in Bauchi

The Nigerian police, Bauchi command, has arrested a notorious Boko Haram commander. The suspect was identified as 25 year-old Muhammad Adamu Nafiu. Nafiu reportedly confessed to killing of over 150 people in Baga local government, Borno state The Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Bauchi command, has announced the arrest of a 25 year old Boko Haram commander identified as Muhammad Adamu Nafiu.

NAIJ.com learnt that the Bauchi state commissioner of police, Garba Baba Umar, in a statement on Wednesday, April 19, said Nafiu is a notorious Boko Haram leader, who ran away from Sambisa forest after it was taken over by the Nigerian army.
Nafiu, who was originally from Balanga, Gombe State, relocated to Tama village, where he was eventually nabbed by the long arms of the law on April 12.

The statement reads: ​"Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect was among​ those declared by the Nigerian Army on Serial Number 176 on its wanted list​, Sun reports. Nafiu confessed to have killed over 150 people in Baga local government alone.  ​"H​e has voluntarily confessed to have killed over 150 people in Baga LGA of Borno State​ alone​. "Case under investigation after which suspect would be handed over to the appropriate authority for discreet investigation​."

Meanwhile, troops of 192 Battalion 26 Task Force on Tuesday, April 18, gunned down six Boko Haram terrorists. The terrorists were killed in a clearance operation carried out by the troops attached to Operation Lafiya Dole in the terrorists hideouts at Dissa and Patawe general area of Borno state. The director of defence information Sani Usman in a statement said several other terrorists were wounded during the operation. Usman said many items including one AK-47 riffle was recovered from the insurgents.
